The Subway 500 is a NASCAR Sprint for the Cup race held in Martinsville, VA at the Martinsville Speedway and is usually held in October. Last year, it was broadcast on the ESPN Network. It is the 6th stop in the Chase for the Sprint Cup and the only short-track race in the Chase. The start time (1:30 PM) is one of the earliest in the Chase, with most starts at 2:00 PM or later. Some past winners are: Jimmie Johnson (2004, 2006 and 2007), Jeff Gordon (1996, 1999, 2003, and 2005), Dale Earnhardt (1980, 1985, and 1995), Richard Petty (1967-1970, 1972 and 1973), and Bobby Isaac (1971).
