Capital One Bowl Tickets
The Capital One Bowl is an annual college football bowl game played in Orlando, Florida at the Citrus Bowl. It was initially known as the Tangerine Bowl (1947-1982) and then as the Florida Citrus Bowl (1983-2001). The title sponsor of the bowl is Capital One and it is operated by Florida Citrus Sports.
The game had its beginning in the year 1947 and is one of the oldest of the non-BCS bowls, next to the Cotton Bowl and Sun Bowl. Before the year 1968 the game featured match ups between schools and some small colleges. Later from the years 1968 to 1975, it became a major college bowl game and then featured the Mid-American Conference champion against an opponent from the Southern Conference.
The Florida Citrus Bowl was formerly known as Orlando Stadium, Tangerine Bowl and the Citrus Bowl. It was inaugurated in the year 1936, with a capacity of 8,900 seats. It is a stadium in Orlando, Florida, USA, built for football with a seating of around 70,000 spectators. It mainly hosts the Capital One Bowl and the Champs Sports Bowl. From the years 1979-2006, it served as the home of the UCF Golden Knights football team.
The Citrus bowl has hosted several professional American football leagues but unsuccessfully. The playing surface is large enough for use in international soccer matches and it was a venue for the year 1994 World Cup. The Citrus Bowl was also a filming location for the 1998 Adam Sandler movie, The Waterboy.
