The Gator Bowl is one of the oldest football games in the history of the United States of America. Started in and held continuously since the year 1946, it is an annual college football bowl game affiliated with the NCAA.

Named after its sponsor, it is currently known as the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl. The tournament is organized and run by The Gator Bowl Association. The tournament usually features teams from the Southern Conference and the Southeastern Conference. Teams from the ACC have also played in the games and from the years 1996 to 2006, the Gator Bowl has been the traditional host for the second-placed ACC team against the second-placed Big East team.

The tournament has seen the change of many venues, with the games being held at Fairfield Stadium in the years 1946 and 1947; after that, until the year 1993, The Gator Bowl Stadium hosted the game and now it is currently held at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The football stadium is located in downtown Jacksonville, Florida and it has a seating capacity for more than 72,000 spectators. Though the Stadium is used primarily as a facility for professional football; it also hosts various other events such as monster-truck shows and musical concerts. The Jacksonville Municipal Stadium is also the home field of The Jacksonville Jaguars, a member of the South Division of the American Football Conference in the National Football League.
