The LSU Tigers comprise of all the athletic teams of LSU and represent the Louisiana State University (LSU). The LSU is also a founding member of the NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) and the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The LSU Tigers football team has won the National Championships 3 times in 1958, 2003 & 2007 and 10 Southeastern Conference (SEC) titles in 1935, 1936, 1958, 1961, 1970, 1986, 1988, 2001, 2003 and 2007. Before the 2008 season, the Tigers have had an all-time record of 693 wins that is the 12th most in NCAA history.
Les Miles, born on November 10th, 1953 in Elyria, Ohio is the current head coach of the LSU Tigers football team. Under the able leadership of Miles, the LSU Tigers went on to win the 2008 BCS National Championship Game against Ohio State by a margin of 38-24. Les Miles was the former head coach of Oklahoma State. Miles was hired for the LSU Tigers in 2005, replacing the then head coach Nick Saban, who later went on to coach the Miami Dolphins.
The Tiger Stadium is the home to the LSU Tigers football team and is located at Baton Rouge, Los Angeles. It has a seating capacity of 92,400 fans and is considered to be the 6th largest campus college football stadium in the United States. The Tiger Stadium was constructed in 1924. After the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina, the New Orleans Saints temporarily used the Tiger Stadium. The Saints had four games of the 2005 NFL season at the Tiger Stadium.
