Sugar Bowl Tickets
First played in 1935, the Sugar Bowl has continued to be one of the most popular college bowl games each and every year since then. Currently played at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana, the Sugar Bowl is a BCS Bowl game which hosts the SEC Champions each year, matching them against a highly ranked at-large team. Previously sponsored by Nokia, the Sugar Bowl has a new sponsor and is now known as the Allstate Sugar Bowl. The Sugar Bowl has twice played host to the BCS Championship Game, in 2000 and 2004.
The Bowl Championship Series (BCS) is a five-game series of college football bowl games, created with the intention of matching the #1 and #2 ranked teams in a game to determine the National Championship, while providing four other exciting games amongst eight of the other most highly ranked teams in college football that season. The five BCS bowl games are the Fiesta Bowl, the Orange Bowl, the Rose Bowl, the Sugar Bowl, and the BCS National Championship Game which is alternated among the different BCS bowl sites each year.
After having risen out of the Great Depression, and making it through such major roadblocks as a World War and devastating hurricane, the Allstate Sugar Bowl has also seen many great players take to the field over the years; a short list of MVPs reads like a who’s who list of college superstars: Bobby Layne (1948), Steve Spurrier (1966), Ken Stabler (1967), Archie Manning (1970), Hershel Walker (1981), Dan Marino (1982), and Bo Jackson (1984) just to name a few. All that being said, the legendary Sugar Bowl definitely finds itself ranked as one of the most successful college football events in sports history.
With all of the tradition linked to this great bowl game, not to mention putting you the fan on Bourbon Street for the New Year, college football fans need to get their BCS tickets for the Allstate Sugar Bowl in New Orleans on January 1, 2010.
