The Texas Tech Red Raiders is one of the intercollegiate athletic teams in the Texas Tech University. The Raiders team is a member of the Big 12 Conference and they compete in the NCAA Division I. The Texas Tech University is located in Lubbock, Texas. It was established on February 10, 1923.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders football team was founded in the year 1925. The Raiders played their first intercollegiate football game against the McMurry University on October 3, 1925. They joined their first ever conference, the Border Intercollegiate Athletic Association in the year 1932. They became a member of the Big 12 Conference in the year 1996. The Raiders have won a total of eleven conference titles and they are the only team in the Big 12 to have a winning season each year since the conference was created. Mike Leach currently coaches the team. He joined the team in the year 2000. He is the school's all-time highest winning coach in postseason play with a 5–3 record.

The Texas Tech Red Raiders play their home games at the Jones AT&T Stadium. The stadium was inaugurated as the Clifford B. and Audrey Jones Stadium in the year 1947. The first game that took place at the arena was between the Raiders and the Hardin-Simmons University. In the year 2000, SBC Communications took over the naming rights of the stadium and its name was changed to the Jones SBC Stadium. Then on April 6, 2006, it was renamed the Jones AT&T Stadium as a result of SBC's merger with AT&T and adoption of AT&T as its new corporate name. It has a current capacity to hold up to 53,000 spectators at any given time.
