2 Live Crew started playing in the school yard before the entire school. One of the band's members was heavily influenced by his aunt's love of music. 2 Live Crew began playing together in 2000. The band was influenced by jazz music.

2 Live Crew’s first album failed to sell, but the second album saved them from obscurity. 2 Live Crew talked to a music director from X91.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after 2 Live Crew was signed.

2 Live Crew plans to take some time off after the tour, allowing the group members to work on side projects. The band is in the second leg of the accompanying tour for their most current album. The newest project from 2 Live Crew is the group's fifth record.
