AFI’s members were friends in middle school. The group was influenced by music of the 1960s. AFI started playing at the local dive bar Anyplace. The guitarist use to listen to cassette tape constantly as a child.

AFI's latest album has been heavily influenced by The Rolling Stones. The band may have recently completed their most current album, but they are already thinking of their next move. Members of AFI hope to collaborate with other artists during the tour.

AFI met with a local DJ from Z90.5 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. AFI were still not sure if they would make it after getting a record. They had heard too many stories and knew that they were in no position to expect anything.

AFI realized that the possibility of living life as actual musicians was a distinct possibility in 1986, as soon as the group's first fan club was started by Shirley Piper. The fan club quickly grew from a few dozen in San Antonio to a few thousand from California to New York.

The group loves playing in New York because they have never failed to sell out a how in the city. The band’s latest tour information, from AFI tickets to concert schedule changes to seating charts, are all available on TheSeats.com.
