Aimee Mann began singing at the college dive bar City. The bassist was heavily influenced by his uncle's love for music. The lead singer used to listen to his mother's cassette tape constantly as a teenager. Aimee Mann began playing together in 1996. The band used to sell their tapes out of their car at the local record store.

Aimee Mann intends to take some time off after the tour, to allow the band members to pursue other projects. The band is in the second leg of the tour promoting for their most current album. Aimee Mann's new record took ten months to put together.
