On January 25, 1981 in the Manhattan neighborhood of Harlem, in New York City, New York, Alicia J. Augello-Cook (known as Alicia Keys) was born. At the age of four with the role in the "Wizard of Oz" she began her career. Her musical gifts emerged at a very early age. On Columbia University she studied music, writing and performing. She started to work with Cleve Davis at J Records in 1999 and released her first album “Songs in A Minor” in 2001. Alicia is a skilled songwriter, trained pianist, and possesses a powerful set of vocal cords.

On December 2, 2003 was released her second album named “The Diary of Alicia Keys” becoming the sixth biggest-selling album by a female artist and the second biggest-selling album by a female R&B artist. It has sold nine million copies worldwide. Released on October 11, 2005 was the album titled “Unplugged”. It has sold one million copies in the United States and two million copies worldwide. Alicia Keys has worked on her third album since 2006 and released the album on November 13, 2007 tited “As I Am”.

This album set a record as hers largest sales week of her career. Due to contracting laryngitis, she rescheduled her concert at the Manchester Evening News Arena in Manchester, England, on February 26, 2008. She has sold over forty-one million albums and singles worldwide and and has won numerous awards, including eleven Grammy Awards, fourteen NAACP Image Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards and three American Music Awards.
