Alphabeat’s members met in grade school. The bassist used to annoy his father by playing his favorite CD incessantly. The guitarist discovered his love of music while listening to his grandfather's collection of records. Alphabeat began performing at bars. The band was influenced by Jerry Lee Lewis.
The band is in the start of the accompanying tour for their newest project. Alphabeat plans to spend some time apart after the tour, to allow the group members to recharge after a long tour.
Alphabeat’s first album failed to sell, but the second album saved them from obscurity. got X97.9 to start playing their single and had their friends call in to request the song. A record executive heard it one day and immediately signed the group.
Alphabeat accepted that they could really have a career in music when the band’s first fan club was started by Margie Lordi in 1988. Starting out in Portland with a few dozen members, the club grew fast, eclipsing a couple thousand from California to New York in under a year.
