Anathema began performing at Anyplace, a college dive bar. Bobby Darin heavily influenced the early work of the band. The members of Anathema met in high school. The drummer wanted to start a group since he was in middle school.

The newest release from Anathema has taken the band in a brand new direction, with a bigger sound. The band has just completed their most current record, but they are already plotting the next move.

The years of paying their dues paid off when Anathema signed a record deal. The group members quit their other jobs to focus on their record. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they started.
