Anberlin’s members were friends in college. The lead singer used to fall asleep with the radioplaying as a teenager. Anberlin began playing at Giant, a local dive bar. The band kept requesting that the local radio station to play their first single.
Anberlin's new record is the group's first album in nine years. The band is in the second leg of the tour promoting for their new project. Anberlin intends to take some time off after this next tour, allowing the band members to work on individual projects.
Critics have generally praised Anberlin for their playfulness with the audience during live performances. Raleigh music critic Randall Klinger has always pointed out group’s terrific bassist. Anberlin’s most current project is receiving inspiring reviews from all the critics, including Claude Quaid, who first saw the group sing in Louisville.
A member of Anberlin started dating a girl whose momwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. All the members quit their day jobs to focus on their music. Anberlin’s first release rose quickly in the charts, giving them the national recognition they always wanted. The band no longer has any problem selling out a show.
Anberlin accepted that they were real working musicians when the group’s first fan club was started in 1992 by Kim Smith. After playing country wide, the group’s fan club exploded from the handful of fans around St. Louis to thousands in every city throughout the country.
