Anvil began performing at Cafeteria, a local bar. The lead singer discovered his love of music while listening to his grandmother's record collection. The bassist wanted to start a group since he was in high school. Anvil began playing together in 1992. The group was influenced by Aretha Franklin.

Anvil was discovered after their single was heard on a local music hour on Q94.9. The groupstarted headlining shows as soon as they started playing together. The group plays almost every night of the week as the they tour America.
