The members of Asia met in 1975. The bassist use to listen to tapes constantly as a teenager. The lead singer wanted to start a band since he was in high school. Asia started performing at City, a college bar. Madonna heavily influenced the early work of the band.

The new release from Asia is the band's sixth release.

The band is in the first leg of the tour accompanying for their newest album. Asia are expecting to bring in another audience with this tour and the latest record.

Asia were happy to get the record deal, but were not sure how far they would go. The release of their debut recording convinced them that they were right where they should be after their songs began to get lots of radio play. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started.

Asia realized they made it in 1992, when the band's first fan club was started by Mary Judge. The club started out in San Francisco with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.
