Atlanta Rhythm Section’s members met in college. The guitarist wanted to start a group since he was in college. The guitarist was encouraged to play by his father. Atlanta Rhythm Section started singing at City, a local bar. The band used to sell their tapes out of their truck at the local music store.

Atlanta Rhythm Section was discovered after their single was heard on K89.5. The band members quit their other jobs to focus on their album. Atlanta Rhythm Section continued to work hard, scared they would just be another one hit wonder.

Atlanta Rhythm Section knew that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act after Mary Innocent started the first fan club for the band in 1985. The club started out in Jacksonville with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.

The most current project is 's first record since the band broke up four years ago. The band may have recently completed their most current record, but they are thinking of what is to come next. Atlanta Rhythm Section intends to spend some time apart after the tour, to allow the group members to work on other projects.
