Avril Lavigne, was born Avril Ramona Lavigne on September 27, 1984 in Bellville, Ontario, Canada. Early on, Avril talents were spotted by her mother, and by the age of 2 she was singing church songs along side her. By the time she was 16 she was signed by Arista Records and completed her first album Let Go. Her first album reached #2 in the US and #1 in Australia, Canada and the UK. As of December 2007, the album has sold 6.6 million copies in the United States and more then 16 million copies throughout the world. Her first single from the album Complicated got her a Grammy nomination for “Song of the Year” and “Best New Artist”. She also received 6 other Grammy nominations. In 2002 she was named Best New Artist at the MTV Video Music Awards and won 4 Juno Awards in 2003.Avril also received a World Music Award for “Worlds Best – Selling Canadian Singer”. All this for her fist album and it was only the beginning. Her second album Under My Skin was released in 2004 and also did great. IT debuted #1 in the US, the UK, Germany, Japan, Australia, Canada, Mexico and more. That year she won 2 World Music Awards for” Best Pop/Rock Artist” and “Best Selling Canadian Artist” and that year was nominated for 5 Juno Awards. She won the “Fan Choice Award”, “Artist of the Year” and “Pop Album of the Year”. Her 3rd album came out in 2007 and is called The Best Damn Thing. It also debuted at #1 in the US and as of December 07’ had sold over 4.1 million copies.

In addition to singing and song writing Avril is also working on her acting career. She has been on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, did a cameo performance in the movie Going the Distance, and played a college activist in the movie Fast Food Nation. She also played the voice of Heather in the animated film, Over the Hedge and her latest role was in the movie The Flock with Richard Gere.

On July 15, 2006 Avril married fellow singer Deryck Whibley, who is the lead singer/guitarist of the band Sum 41.They were married in a Catholic ceremony in California. In December 2007 Avril was ranked #7 in the Forbes “Top 20 Earners Under 25” with annual earning of $12 million dollars.
