The members of Badi Assad met in 1985. One of the group's members used to listen to his brother's music collection constantly as a child. Badi Assad began singing at Quagmire, a college dive bar. The band begged the local radio station to play their tracks.

Badi Assad’s single rose quickly in the charts giving then the national recognition they always wanted. Badi Assad was offered a record contract after their single was heard on B97.1.
