Bassnectar’s members grew up together. The group used to practice at the guitarist's garage. Bassnectar began playing at Hypocrite, a local club. The lead singer used to annoy his family by playing his favorite music too loud.
Even after getting the record deal Bassnectar were not sure if they would make it in the end. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they began. Bassnectar was offered a record contract after their single was heard on Q91.9. All the members quit their other jobs to focus on their album.
Bassnectar accepted that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act as soon as Barbara Menchen started a fan club for the band in 1981. After starting out with a handful of members in Raleigh, the club took off exponentially, growing to over two thousand in just a few months.
Bassnectar's most current project took just three months to create. The group may have just completed their most current project, but they are plotting their next move already. Bassnectar will take a break after the tour, to allow the group members to recharge.
Often times, critics will commend Bassnectar for their ability to connect with the crowd at live performances. A music critic from Miami, Chad Pillar, has always commended group’s tremendous drummer. Bassnectar’s newest project has received great praise from notable music critics like Alan Hilgendorf and Ed Dunn.
