Beck Tickets
Beck is the grand funk master at the intersection of folk, hip hop, sampling, drum machines, and everything else on the music landscape. The singer, born Bek David Campbell on July 8, 1970, had been a staple in alternative music since his emergence with the single “Loser” and his stage performance on the Lollapalooza Tour in 1995.
He made his into the music industry busking in Europe, sneaking on stage at clubs and coffee shops, and with low paying jobs. The single that kicked off his career, “Loser”, moved from college radio to the major airwaves and set off a bidding war between labels. Choosing the least money and the most freedom, Beck went with Geffen Records.
His debut album, Mellow Gold, did little to enhance his reputation as musician but ended up going platinum. His second album Odelay made Beck more than a loser and created a music sensation that went double platinum. It also got him two Grammys.
Beck’s third album, Mutations, moved more toward blues and folk and away from the heavy electronic influences of Odelay. The album also created tension between the artist and the record company. Beck had planned to release the album on the independent Bong Long Records, but was beat tot eh punch when Geffen Records issued the album.
Midnite Vulture was released the next year through Geffen, despite Beck’s attempt to void his record deal. The album reached gold certification, like Mutations, but was supported with a world tour.
Beck has since released four albums, none of which reached platinum certification, but his fans have remained loyal. Those loyal fans can come to The Seats for Beck tickets.
