Blue October began performing at Human, a local dive bar. The guitarist was heavily influenced by his sister's love for music. The lead singer was influenced by his sibling's love of music. The members of Blue October met in middle school. The band used to practice at the bassist's garage.

Blue October's most current album took three months to put together. The group has just completed their latest record, and they are planning the next release already.

Often times, critics have praised Blue October for their ability to rile up the crowd when they perform live. A music critic from Phoenix, Bobby Mitchell, has always praised band’s superb drummer. Blue October’s new album is receiving terrific reviews from Erik Tomaselli, a music critic out of Jacksonville, and Peter Kloiber, from Louisville.

Blue October were happy to get the record deal, but were not sure how far they would go. The release of their first release convinced them that they were right where they should be after their songs began to get lots of radio play. The band is enjoying its success, touring constantly. Blue October was discovered after their single was heard on a local music hour on K97.5. The members of the band all quit their other jobs to focus on their music.

Blue October knew that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true after the group’s first fan club was started by Carol Nicodemus in 1987. Starting out with just a few dozen members in Charleston, the fan club quickly grew with group’s national tour and the launching of the band’s website by Margie O'Toole.
