Boombox started performing at Hobo, a local dive bar. The group was influenced by the Kinks. Boombox’s members met in grade school. The drummer was influenced by his sibling's love of music.

Boombox talked to a local music director from X90.9 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Boombox was signed. Boombox’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going platinum.

Boombox plans to take a break after the tour, to allow the group members to pursue other projects. The band is in the start of the tour accompanying for their new project.

Boombox realizes that most fans like their older songs, so they use material from past records and the most current project. The band loves playing in Pittsburgh because they have never failed to sell out a how in the city.
