Built to Spill Tickets
Built to Spill’s members were friends in high school. The drummer was encouraged to play by his grade school teacher. The guitaristdiscovered his love of music by listening to his mom's record collection. Built to Spill began performing at the college dive bar Anyplace. The group was influenced by music of the 1960s.
Built to Spill's new album took eight months to produce. The band is in the middle of the promotional tour for their new release. Members of Built to Spill see this tour as a chance to expose a new group of fans to their music.
Built to Spill were unsure about their music careers with the release of their debut album, and were relieved after their music began climbing the charts ad getting lots of play on the radio. A member of Built to Spill started dating a girl whose siblingwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after.
Built to Spill accepted that they could really have a career in music in 1998, as soon as Pam Storjohann started the group’s first fan club. After starting out with a handful of members in San Antonio, the club took off exponentially, growing to over two thousand in just a few months.
Built to Spill respects the fact that their fans love their older albums, so they go to great effort to incorporate the previous hits with the latest ones. Oklahoma City has always been receptive to the band, even when they were small time, so the band schedules a show there every year, even if they are not touring.
