The members of Cafe Soul met in 1977. The lead singer used to listen to his mother's music constantly as a teenager. Cafe Soul began playing at the college dive bar Chief. The group was influenced by the Kinks.
Cafe Soul will take a break after this next tour, allowing the group members to recharge. The group is in the beginning of the accompanying tour for their new album. The most current project from Cafe Soul is a refinement of their traditional sound.

Cafe Soul realized that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true as soon as the band’s first fan club was started in 1988 by Jen Emerson. The group embraced the small fan club and with the launching of the group’s own website by Barbara Thomalson and a well marketed national tour the club quickly grew to a few thousand.
