The members of Cage The Elephant were friends in high school. The drummer used to fall asleep with a CDplaying as a child. The drummer use to listen to CDs constantly as a teenager. Cage The Elephant began playing at the college club Accountant. The group kept requesting that the local radio station to play their songs.

The most current album from Cage The Elephant has been heavily influenced by bands of the 1960s. The band is in the beginning of the accompanying tour for their newest project. Cage The Elephant are expecting to bring in another group of fans with this tour and the most current release.

Generally, critics praise Cage The Elephant for their playfulness with the crowd during live shows.
