Calhoun began performing at City, a local club. The bassist discovered his love of music while listening to his family's music collection. The drummer was heavily influenced by his sister's love for music. Calhoun’s members met in 1981. The group used to sell their tapes out of their van at local shows.

submitted their single to Q90.1 and a DJ took a liking to it. The bandwas headlining shows soon after they started playing live. Calhoun were uneasy after releasing the debut single, but were happy when they heard their music on the radio for the first time. Now the group play in plays in sold out arenas across America.

Calhoun knew that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true in 1982, after Sarah Molitor started the group’s first fan club. After playing across the world, the band’s fan club exploded from the handful of fans around Louisville to thousands in every city throughout the country.

The latest record from Calhoun has taken the band in a very new direction, with a heavier sound. The group may have recently completed their new release, but they are planning the next release already. After this last busy year the members of Calhoun will spend some time apart.
