The members of Caliban met in grade school. The guitarist used to annoy his mom by playing his favorite record too loud. The lead singer use to listen to CDs constantly as a kid. Caliban started performing at Cap, a local dive bar. The group used to practice at the drummer's garage.
Caliban met with a local DJ from Q101.1 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. The band really enjoys performing and is playing almost nightly before fans.
The latest project is 's first album since the band broke up six years ago. The group is in the second leg of the accompanying tour for their new release. After this past hectic year the members of Caliban will take some time off to pursue other projects.
Generally, critics have commended Caliban for their playfulness with the audience at live performances. Lenny Felson, a music critic from Los Angeles, has always commended group’s tremendous stage presence. Caliban’s newest album has received terrific reviews from all the critics, including George Colangelo, who first saw the band sing in Chicago.
