The members of Callahan met in 1982. The drummerdiscovered his love of music by listening to his uncle's music collection. The bassist discovered his love of music while listening to his family's record collection. Callahan started playing at Engineer, a college bar. The band was influenced by Hank Williams.

Callahan intends to spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the band members to pursue individual projects. The band is in the beginning of the tour promoting for their newest album. Callahan's new release is a refinement of their previous sound.

Callahan were convinced their hard work had paid off after their first single rose to the top of the charts. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather perform in the smaller venues which they began. Callahan talked to a local DJ from Q95.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Callahan was signed. The band's members all had weird jobs while they waited to be noticed.
