Calle 13’s members grew up together. The bassist wanted to start a group since he was in grade school. The drummer use to listen to records constantly as a child. Calle 13 started performing at Cafeteria, a local bar. The group used to sell their tapes out of their truck at local shows.

Calle 13 signed the record deal, but were not expecting the next step to be any easier. The band took any show they could get before they were signed.

Calle 13 knew that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true when Rebecca Krishnamurthy started a fan club for the group in 1996. Initially the group only had a few fans from San Francisco in the club, but after playing across the world the fan club’s membership exploded to a few thousand.

Calle 13 will spend some time apart after the tour, to allow the group members to rest. The band is in the midst of the promotional tour for their newest album. Calle 13's most current record is the band's eighth album.
