The members of Calle 13 were friends in high school. The drummerdiscovered his love of music by listening to his grandfather's collection of records. The guitarist was encouraged to play by his sibling. Calle 13 started performing at the local bar Assistant. The group used to sell their tapes out of their car at school.
The most current record from Calle 13 is the band's first album in eight years. The group is in the beginning of the tour promoting for their latest album.
Often times critics will praise Calle 13 for their ability to energize the crowd at live shows. Kansas City music critic Norris Storjohann has always mentioned group’s guitarist. Calle 13’s latest release has received incredible praise from all the critics, including Lenny Verlinden, who first saw the group play in San Francisco.
Calle 13 were uneasy after releasing the debut recording, but were happy when they heard their music on the radio for the first time. The group played for years atsmall clubs making almost no money.
Calle 13 realized that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true as soon as the band’s first fan club was started by Kathleen Jasper in 1995. The fan club grew from a few dozen to a few thousand after Jess Moran created a website for the group and a national tour gave the group plenty of exposure.
