Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10, 1983) is an American pop country singer who won American Idol, Season 4. She became a multi-platinum selling recording artist since. Some Hearts, her debut album, was certified 6 times platinum and was the quickest selling debut country album in Nielsen SoundScan history. She is the first American Idol winner to get honors at all three major music awards in the same season, including a four American Music Awards, thirteen Billboard Music Awards and two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist.

She earned a solid fan base after singing in high school, but there was a sudden change in college as she moved away from music completely. Following that, she went on to perform on American Idol. She went on to win the title after clearing every round on May 25, 2005. The offers came pouring in soon after that. She signed with 19 Recordings/ Arista Records.

She recorded her debut single, “Inside Your Heaven,” which became an instant hit and became the best-selling number in the nation. The applause didn’t stop there as she went on the break the Billboard chart history record and became the first country artist to hit number one ever. She then released her next single, “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” Her debut album, “Some Hearts” was released in late 2005 and yielded five #1 hits so far: “Inside Your Heaven,” “Jesus, Take the Wheel,” “Don’t Forget to Remember Me,” “Wasted,” and “Before He Cheats.” She also got another Billboard Top Ten hit with her single, “I’ll Stand by You,” which she recorded for charity.

She performed at the 2006 Thanksgiving Day football game’s halftime show at Texas Stadium and was linked romantically to Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo afterward. She went to Romo’s birthday party in April 2007 and on May 15, 2007, Romo escorted her to the Academy of Country Music Awards. She is now said to be going out with Chace Crawford of “Gossip Girl.”

Carnival Ride, her second album (which is certified 2x Platinum) was released on October 23, 2007. It has sold over 2 million copies so far in the United States alone and has created a #1 country hit, “So Small.” “All-American Girl” (the album’s second single) is steadily climbing the charts.
