Cartel began playing at the college dive bar Giant. Music of the 1960s heavily influenced the early work of the group. The members of Cartel grew up together. The drummer was influenced by his grandmother's love of music.

After the single hit the airwaves and became incredibly popular, Cartel knew they’d made it big and were not willing to be just another one hit wonder. Now the band headlines shows across the States.

After this last hectic year the members of Cartel will take a break to work on other projects. The band just finished their most current release, but they are planning the next release already. Cartel's most current record took just two months to record.
