Cross Canadian Ragweed talked to a local music director from Q102.5 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Cross Canadian Ragweed was signed. The band members quit their other jobs to focus on their album. Cross Canadian Ragweed’s first release climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they began.
Cross Canadian Ragweed finally realized they made it in 1999, when the group's first fan club was started by Pam Lamango. Initially the group only had a few fans from Albany in the club, but after playing across the world the fan club’s membership exploded to a few thousand.
Chicago has always been a haven for the group, so they are sure to schedule a concert there every time they tour.
