Crystal Castles began playing together in 1987. The group had their friends harass the local radio station to play their single. Crystal Castles started performing at the local dive bar Excerpt. The lead singer was encouraged to play by his dad.

Crystal Castles was discovered after their single was heard on X103.5. Crystal Castles were relieved when their single climbed the charts. They had heard too many stories of bands with record deals going nowhere.

Crystal Castles realized that they had a real chance to become a headlining national act after Lisa Boughton started the first fan club for the group in 1981. Starting out in Los Angeles with a few dozen members, the club grew fast, eclipsing a couple thousand from California to New York in under a year.

After this past busy year the members of Crystal Castles will take some time off to work on side projects. The band recently completed their most current record, but they are already planning the next release.
