Cut Copy Tickets
The members of Cut Copy met in 1994. The guitarist wanted to start a band since he was in college. The lead singer wanted to start a band since he was in middle school. Cut Copy began playing at the college bar Anyplace. The Animals heavily influenced the early work of the group.
Cut Copy talked to a local DJ from Z90.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Cut Copy was signed. The band took any show they could get before they were signed. After the single hit the airwaves and became incredibly popular, Cut Copy knew they’d made it big and were not willing to be just another one hit wonder.
Cut Copy knew that they could really have a career in music as soon as the group’s first fan club was started in 1996 by Maria Rummerfield. The club started out in Ann Arbor with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.
Cut Copy plans to spend some time apart after the tour, to allow the group members to recharge after a long year. The band recently finished their latest project, but they are already planning the next release. Cut Copy's newest record is the group's third album.
