Daedelus began playing together while they were in grade school. The drummer discovered his love of music while listening to his sibling's music collection. The guitarist was encouraged to play by his teacher. Daedelus started performing in local festivals. The Benagls heavily influenced the early work of the band.

Daedelus were still a little worried after they released their debut single, but were relieved when the release began to get some radio play. The band is enjoying its success, touring constantly. Daedelus was discovered while joking around, performing on the street one day. The bandspent years before being signed as an opening act.

Daedelus realized they had finally made it when the band’s first fan club was started in 1997 by Donna Gibson. The fan club started out small with just a handful of members, generally localized to the area around Raleigh, but the creation the group’s website by Margie Rastetter, along with the first real national marketing campaign, saw the membership to grow into the thousands.
