Dames Aflame’s members grew up together. The lead singer wanted to start a band since he was in high school. Dames Aflame started playing at the college dive bar Baby. The band was influenced by the Mamas and the Papas.
A member of Dames Aflame started dating a girl whose auntwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. The band members were glad to have the opportunity to make an album and quit their day jobs that supported them while they worked hard at night to make their dreams happen.
Dames Aflame knew they made it when Sarah Parquette started the first fan club for the band in 1995. After playing from California to New York, the group’s fan club exploded from the handful of fans around Phoenix to thousands in every city throughout the country.
The group may have recently completed their latest record, but they are thinking of what is next to come. Dames Aflame's new album took just four months to record.
Generally, critics have commended Dames Aflame for their ability to rile up the crowd during live shows.
