The members of Dan Auerbach were friends in high school. The lead singer was influenced by his brother's love of music. The bassist discovered his love of music while listening to his family's collection of records. Dan Auerbach started performing at Prosperity, a local bar. Dolly Parton heavily influenced the early work of the group.

Dan Auerbach will take some time off after the tour, to allow the band members to rest. The group is in the midst of the tour accompanying for their new project.

After the single hit the airwaves and became incredibly popular, Dan Auerbach knew they’d made it big and were not willing to be just another one hit wonder. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather perform in the smaller clubs in which they started. Dan Auerbach met with a local DJ from B101.1 and convinced him to play their single on air. The single immediately became a local hit and larger radio stations started playing the song. Eventually a record executive heard it and signed the band. The group members were relieved to have the opportunity to make an album and quit their day jobs that supported them while they worked hard at night to make their dreams happen.

Dan Auerbach realized that they were truly working musicians as soon as the group’s first fan club was started by Helen Treadaway in 1983. Initially the group only had a few fans from Charleston in the club, but after playing from California to New York the fan club’s membership exploded to a few thousand.

Every time the band comes to Denver they are sure to stop at Shopper and play a show. Dan Auerbach appreciates that they are able to do what they love because of the fans, so they play the hits off their most current record as well as the classics.
