Dave Matthews Band Tickets
Dave Matthews Band: Background
The Dave Matthews Band formed in 1991 in Charlottesville, Virginia after a local patron convinced Dave Matthews that he should put his songs on a demo. The group began to build slowly, picking up drummer Carter Beauford and LeRoi Moore in a disastrous recording session, and Stefan Lessard and Boyd Tinsley as the studio group decided they needed more instruments to complete the demo. The demo group became a live group after the musicians decided they like performing together.
From there, they played their first show at an Earth Day celebration thrown by the city. The jazz fusion, rock sound was a hit and the group decided they needed a name. The musicians agreed since the flyer promoting the show had them down as the Dave Matthews Band that the name should stick. The group played local shows at clubs like Eastern Standard and Trax, until they released their first album, Remember Two Things, in 1993. It would take nine years, but the RAII eventually certified the independent release platinum in 2002.
With a huge success on the independent market, the band signed with RCA and released Under the Table and Dreaming in 1994 and the breakthrough album Crash in 1996. The band immediately became a huge act in the public sphere and went on to use their popularity to play live benefit shows for causes and victims of tragedies. The group began to take a darker direction in 1998 on Before These Crowded Streets and eventually upset fans with the dark tone of Everyday in 2001.
Since then the band has been splitting time between solo projects, benefit shows, summer tours, and releasing Stand Up in 2005.
