The members of Deerhoof grew up together. The drummer first found his love of music by listening to his sister's music collection. Deerhoof began singing at the local bar Cafeteria. The group used to sell their tapes out of their truck at the local music store.

Deerhoof’s first release climbed the charts quickly, giving them national exposure. The groupplays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they began. Deerhoof was discovered after their single was heard on Z97.9. The group group played festivals, parties, bars, really just about anywhere that would take them.
