Delerium started playing at the college dive bar Fighter. The band used to practice at the guitarist's house. Delerium began playing together while they were in college. The lead singer wanted to start a band since he was in college.
Delerium's most current record has taken the band in a quite different direction, with a less refined sound. The band may have recently finished their newest release, but they are already planning their next move. Delerium are expecting to bring in a new group of fans with this tour and the newest record.
Generally critics will commend Delerium for their ability to rile up the audience at concerts. Mark Judge, a music critic from Boston, has always been pleased with band’s great skill on their instruments. Delerium’s most current album is receiving amazing reviews from all the critics, including Billy Jean, who first saw the group sing in Pittsburgh.
Delerium talked to a music director from B96.1 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Delerium was signed. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in smaller bars in which they started.
Delerium realized that they were truly working musicians after the group’s first fan club was started by Ruth Smith in 1988. The club started out in Atlanta with a handful of members, but grew tremendously once their singles started getting national air time.
The band is sure to schedule a performance at Chief in Austin every time they tour because they used to play there all the time before they made it big. Delerium realizes that most fans like their older songs, so they use material from older releases and the most current release.
