Fairpoint Convention started singing at the local dive bar Knoll. The drummer used to fall asleep with a tapeplaying as a child. The bassist used to fall asleep with a CDplaying as a kid. The members of Fairpoint Convention grew up together. The Beatles heavily influenced the early work of the group.

Fairpoint Convention were still a little worried after they released their debut album, but were relieved when the release began to get some radio play. After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Fairpoint Convention was signed to a record deal.
