Fat Joe’s members were friends in high school. The group wanted to be performers since they were kids. Fat Joe began singing at church in front of the entire congregation. Music of the 1950s heavily influenced the early work of the band.

Fat Joe talked to a program director from B94.5 and got their single on air. The girlfriend of a record executive heard the song and soon after Fat Joe was signed. The band group played festivals, parties, bars, really just about anywhere that would take them. Fat Joe’s first album did not do so well, but the second album was a hit, going gold.

Fat Joe's new album is the band's first since the band members went to work on independent projects two years ago.
