American rock band formed by musician Dave Grohl (former drummer in Nirvana) in 1995 and named Foo Fighters. Released on July 4, 1995, the band's self-titled debut, consisting solely of Dave Grohl's solo recordings.It was an instant success in America, as their first single "This Is a Call" garnered heavy alternative and album rock airplay. The album was certified platinum in the U.S by early 1996. On May 20, 1997 was released their second album named “The Colour and the Shape”. Grohl spent the next several months working on their third album, “There Is Nothing Left to Lose”. Near the end of 2001, the band reconvened to record their fourth album and spent four months in a Los Angeles studio completing the album. They released it in October, 2002 under the title “One by One”.
“In Your Honor” was the next studio album and it was a double CD, released on June 14, 2005. the Foo Fighters performed their largest non-festival headlining concert to date at London's Hyde Park on June 17, 2006 and in November 2006, the band released their first ever live CD, “Skin and Bones”. For the followup to “In Your Honor”, the Foo Fighter released their new album, titled “Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace” on September 25, 2007. This year on February, 10th the band performed "The Pretender" at the Grammy Awards. The band has earned a worldwide following, and have scored a number of hit songs.
