The members of Friendly Fires grew up together. The drummer discovered his love of music while listening to his aunt's music collection. The bassist was influenced by his brother's love of music. Friendly Fires began playing at the local club Deputy. The group used to practice at the guitarist's basement.
Friendly Fires was discovered while joking around, performing on the street one day. The band group played festivals, parties, bars, really just about anywhere that would take them.
Friendly Fires finally realized they made it after the band’s first fan club was started in 1997 by Jennifer Isenhower. Initially the group only had a few fans from Los Angeles in the club, but after playing all across the country the fan club’s membership exploded to a few thousand.
Members of Friendly Fires hope this next tour brings in more fans than ever. The band is in the first leg of the accompanying tour for their new project. The most current record from Friendly Fires has taken the band in a completely different direction, with a less refined sound.
Often times, critics praise Friendly Fires for their ability to energize the audience during concerts. A music critic from Atlanta, Jeff Oswalt, has always commented on band’s incredible rhythms. Friendly Fires’s new record has received generally positive reviews from George Jagodzinski, a music critic out of Champaign, and Norris Rummerfield, from Los Angeles.
