Gabrial Barnett started playing at Dye, a local club. The drummerdiscovered his love of music by listening to his grandfather's music collection. The guitarist used to annoy his sibling by playing his favorite music at all hours of the night. The members of Gabrial Barnett grew up together. The group used to practice at the guitarist's basement.

Gabrial Barnett were uneasy after releasing the first album, but were happy when they heard their music on the radio for the first time. The band really enjoys performing and is playing almost nightly for fans. submitted their single to B96.1 and a DJ took a liking to it. The band's members all had odd jobs while they worked hard to be known.

Gabrial Barnett knew that their dream of making an actual life for themselves as musicians had come true after Virginia Ellenwood started a fan club for the group in 1992. The club started out small, with just a handful of members around Austin. After the group’s first national tour the club grew dramatically, reaching a membership in the thousands.
