Goo Goo Dolls Tickets
The Goo Goo Dolls began playing in 1986 after John Rzeznik, Robby Takac, and George Tutuska starting playing as a garage band in Buffalo. Originally, Takac was the lead singer for the group, and on the first two albums he sang lead for all the tracks. It was not until the third album that Rzeznik sang lead on several tracks.
His voice and his song “Fallin’ Down” brought the Goo Goo Dolls into the public’s knowledge. The song also caused Tutska to leave the group. Tutuska felt he deserved aprt of the royalty check Rzeznik was receiving for the song. Tutska tried to recruit Takac to leave with him, but he ended up staying and Tutska was replaced by Mike Malinin in 1995.
The Goo Goo Dolls first reached any kind of sustainable success with A Boy Named Goo. The album sold well and would later be certified double platinum. The single “Name” reached number one on the mainstream rock tracks. The band had established itself with “Name” and would lead the group to another battle over royalties. This time the group filed suit against the label Metal Blade claiming that the group had earned no royalties from the album.
The success of the album launched the career of the Goo Goo Dolls and altered the musical direction from a mix of pop rock, heavy metal, and punk rock to a more commercial flavor of rock. The result was their sixth album, Dizzy Up the Girl. The album was certified platinum three times and had hits like number one singles “Iris” and “Slide”.
The Goo Goo Dolls have since struggled to create the commercial success of those two albums. Gutterflower (2002) only reached gold status and Let Love In (2006) has yet to be certified. The fans have continued to show their support for the group though. Goo Goo Dolls tickets have never had much of a problem being sold on tours. Concerts are well-received as the band plays the right mix of old hits and new material.
