Grand Ole Opry started performing at the college bar Cafeteria. The group had their friends call into the local radio station to play their first release. Grand Ole Opry’s members met in high school. The drummer use to listen to tape constantly as a child.

A member of Grand Ole Opry started dating a girl whose dadwas a record executive. She passed the single on to them and the band signed a record deal soon after. The group played for little to no money at first and was just happy to be given a chance to be heard.

Grand Ole Opry knew that they could really have a career in music in 1975, after the band's first fan club was started by Kathleen Hilgendorf. While the club started out small after the organizer heard the group play at a small club in Boston, the club grew leaps and bounds after the band’s first national tour.

The group is in the middle of the promotional tour for their most current album. Grand Ole Opry will spend some time apart after this next tour, allowing the band members to pursue other projects.
