Hairball started performing at the college bar City. The lead singer use to listen to record constantly as a teenager. The lead singer discovered his love of music while listening to his father's music collection. Hairball’s members grew up together. The band harassed the local radio station to play their first release.

Hairball were happy to get the record deal, but were not sure how far they would go. The release of their debut recording convinced them that they were right where they should be after their songs began to get lots of radio play. The band continues to play large venues, but still enjoys performing in smaller clubs on occasion.

Hairball realized that they were real working musicians when the band’s first fan club was started by Deborah Abbott in 1996. Starting out with just a few dozen members in Kansas City, the fan club quickly grew with group’s national tour and the launching of the band’s website by Elizabeth Rastetter.

Hairball's new release has been heavily influenced by artists of the '60s. The group recently completed their newest record, and they are already planning their next move. Hairball's members hope to collaborate with other artists while they are on this tour.

Often times, critics praise Hairball for their ability to connect with the crowd when they perform live. William Moran, a music critic from Dallas, has always pointed out group’s great sound. Hairball’s newest album has received tremendous praise from all the critics, including Claude Piper from Kansas City and Tobias Ernhart from Shelbyville.

The band has never played a bad show in Biloxi, so they make sure to schedule a stop there whenever they tour.
