Hampton Roads Bluegrass Jamboree’s members were friends in grade school. The guitarist used to listen to his mom's cassette tape constantly as a kid. Hampton Roads Bluegrass Jamboree started singing at the college club Deputy. Jazz heavily influenced the early work of the group.

Hampton Roads Bluegrass Jamboree first garnered some national attention with their first single. The group plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller venues in which they started.
