The members of Handsome Furs met in high school. The lead singer first found his love of music by listening to his uncle's music collection. Handsome Furs began performing at the local bar Accountant. Music of the 1960s heavily influenced the early work of the band.

After paying their dues and opening shows for years, Handsome Furs was signed to a record deal. All the members quit their day jobs to focus on their music. The band plays plenty of arenas, but would rather play in the smaller bars in which they began.

Handsome Furs realized that the possibility of living life as actual musicians was a distinct possibility as soon as the band’s first fan club was started by Martha Dostal in 1980. The fan club grew from a few dozen to a few thousand after Amy Brady created a website for the band and a national tour gave the band plenty of exposure.

The new release is 's first project since the band broke up five years ago. The band is in the midst of the tour promoting for their most current record. After this past busy year the members of Handsome Furs will spend some time apart.
